Can DHMSCare monitor flotation cells, thickeners and ball mills?
Yes. DHMSCare has monitored the motors and gear reducers of large flotation machines and covers ball mills; for slow thickener drives, tell us the shaft speed and we confirm the right sensor first. A flotation cell separates mineral from waste rock with air bubbles.
A thickener is a large tank where solids settle out of the slurry.
Why these machines need watching
In a concentrator, a stop at the mills or the flotation cells can hold up the processing line. Known fault types on flotation machines include bearing faults and impeller wear.
The motors and gear reducers that drive these machines wear like any drive. Bearing wear, misalignment and gear wear in those drives change their vibration before they fail.
How DHMSCare covers a concentrator
On flotation machines, sensors go on the motor and the gear reducer. In the flotation project, each machine had four to six measuring points.
On ball mills, DHMSCare watches the mill drive. Gear faults are tracked once the gearbox's tooth counts are entered.
What DHMSCare does not claim
The flotation project also used sound sensors and speed signals. DHMSCare's DT sensors do not capture sound, so DHMSCare makes no claim to predict impeller wear.
Thickener drives turn very slowly. Share the drive's shaft speed with us first, and we agree the sensor with you before the order.
What to expect on site
The sensors carry an IP69 rating against dust and high-pressure water, which suits wet process areas. IP69 is not a corrosion rating, so tell us about strongly corrosive areas before you install. Plants confirm 90%+ of DHMSCare alerts as accurate.
On the flotation line DHMSCare builds a baseline per machine and Mina concludes on each alert, giving mill and flotation maintenance a plan to follow.
See the non-ferrous metals page, check the sensor range on the products page, and read the flotation case.

Questions buyers also ask
Can DHMSCare also cover the metal-processing side of the business?
Yes. At an aluminium plant, DHMSCare covers rolling mills, hydraulic presses, drive motors, cooling pumps and exhaust fans.
Do we need a vibration analyst on site?
No. Mina, the industrial AI agent, explains each fault in plain words and lists what to inspect and fix.
Can we start with only the mills?
Yes. You can start with one line of 10 sensors and one gateway, then extend to the flotation cells and other areas.
