DHMS at the 4th China Steel Industry Intelligent Manufacturing Forum
At the 4th China Steel Industry Intelligent Manufacturing Forum, DHMS presented fault detection and diagnosis for large rotating machinery.

The 4th China Steel Industry Intelligent Manufacturing Forum opened in Baoshan, Shanghai. The forum was hosted by the China Association of Plant Engineering and organised by its equipment trading service centre and other units.
Leaders from the association, related industries and enterprise representatives attended to explore innovative development of industrialisation and informatisation in steel companies. Suzhou DHMS Information Technology Co., Ltd. attended as a sponsor.

On the morning of the opening, the general manager of Suzhou DHMS gave a keynote titled Key Technologies and Applications for Fault Detection and Diagnosis of Large Rotating Electromechanical Equipment, discussing online monitoring and fault diagnosis solutions for steel and metallurgy equipment — the DHMS system.
The general manager first analysed the characteristics of the steel industry and its equipment. Steel and metallurgy is a pillar industry in China, with many densely packed machines, complex processes and high equipment value.

As production scales up, equipment is upgraded and automation rises, production and equipment management face increasingly severe tests: many important machines in dense installations, where a failure can cause incalculable losses; complex equipment and long repair cycles, where a line stoppage has wide impact; and a lack of scientific data analysis and advanced predictive fault diagnosis and warning mechanisms at most companies.

For typical faults in large rotating equipment in steel — gear tooth breakage on roughing mills, bearing damage on finishing mills, gear wear in tilting mechanisms, mill bearing damage, gear tooth fracture and broken bars in large motors — DHMS's self-developed system changes the shortcomings of existing fault diagnosis and inspection methods.

Using smart sensors, edge computing, industrial internet and big data, it builds data management, analysis and value discovery across the full operating cycle, providing remote online services such as fault prediction, fault analysis and diagnosis, condition monitoring, health assessment and intelligent inspection.

The forum presented the DHMS system architecture and cloud deployment, data collection and transmission, equipment access and core application services.
Core services include fault diagnosis (real-time condition monitoring, fault alerts and push, fault diagnosis and analysis, equipment degradation trend analysis), health checks (equipment health assessment, intelligent diagnosis, fault library), a remote expert system (remote expert fault diagnosis and analysis, remote consultation, multi-expert remote diagnosis, limited data authorisation) and intelligent inspection (intelligent information collection, equipment status upload and viewing, inspection plan and workflow management, multiple data input methods).

Finally, the general manager presented some DHMS application cases, which drew warm applause.
